Common questions
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Every place, photo, description, and route in Semta is stored inside the app. You can land at the airport with your phone in airplane mode and the app works exactly the same.
The only thing that needs a connection is refreshing the taxi tariff, which happens quietly in the background when you do have signal. Walking and driving times from Apple Maps also need a connection; without one, the app shows straight-line distance instead.
How accurate is the taxi fare estimate?
It is an estimate, not a quote. Semta calculates it from the current official Istanbul taxi tariff and the real driving distance between two points, then adds a margin for traffic. That is why you see a range rather than a single number.
Your actual fare can land outside that range. Heavy traffic, bridge and tunnel tolls, a longer route, or waiting time all push it up. Use the estimate to know roughly what to expect and to recognise a fare that is far off — not as a price to argue over.
Semta does not book taxis and is not affiliated with any taxi company or transport authority.
I paid, but the app still shows the paywall.
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with.
If it still does not unlock, email us the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
Is this a subscription?
No. Semta is a single one-time purchase. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews. Once unlocked, it stays unlocked on every device signed in to your Apple Account.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Only to sort places by how far they are from you and to estimate a taxi fare from where you are standing. Your coordinates never leave your iPhone.
You can decline. If you do, tap anywhere on the map to set a starting point manually and everything else works normally.
A place has wrong information, or one is missing.
Tell us. Opening hours and ticket prices in Istanbul change often, and corrections from people actually standing in front of the building are the fastest way we find out. Include the name of the place and what you saw.
How do I get a refund?
All App Store purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through them at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no way to issue one ourselves.
Privacy
