Getting a reliable reading
Stand facing a window in daylight. No foundation, blush or lipstick. Hair off your forehead and cheeks. Eyes open — Tonvia uses the whites of your eyes to cancel out the colour of the light you are standing in, and without them the reading is far less reliable.
Common questions
The app says my result is borderline. What does that mean?
Two seasons scored almost the same. That is usually the photograph rather than you: indoor light, a coloured wall, or makeup still on. Retake in daylight. If it stays borderline, you genuinely sit between two seasons, which is common, and both palettes will suit you.
I disagree with my season.
Look at the three axis readings on your palette screen. They show what was actually measured: how light or deep you are, how warm or cool, how clear or muted. If one of those looks wrong, the photograph is the cause. Retake it. If all three look right but the season name surprises you, check the second-closest season shown underneath — you are probably between the two.
Can I redo the analysis?
Yes, as many times as you like, at no cost. Open Palette and tap "Measure again". The new result replaces the old one; your closet is not affected.
A garment's colour was read wrong.
Photograph one item at a time, laid flat, in even light, on a plain surface. Tonvia removes the background automatically, but a patterned bedspread or a strong shadow can defeat it. If the piece is patterned, the app reads its largest colour area, which is normally what the garment reads as from a distance.
Do my photos leave my phone?
No. The analysis runs on your device using Apple's Vision framework. There is no server, no account and no upload. See the Privacy Policy.
I paid but full access is not showing.
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore purchases". Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still does not appear, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Tonvia. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete everything?
Settings inside the app has "Erase all data". It removes your portrait, your palette and every garment photograph from the device immediately. Deleting the app does the same thing.
Weather is not working.
Weather needs location permission and a connection. If either is missing, pick the temperature band yourself on the Today screen — everything else works exactly the same.
